On the Issues

2020 has been one of the most difficult years Alaskans have ever faced. When COVID-19 came to Alaska, I got to work immediately providing urgently needed relief for Alaskans.

  • Passed HB 29 expanding insurance coverage for telehealth care in Alaska.

  • Passed legislation to dramatically expand unemployment eligibility (HB 308). HB 308 was passed in just 6 days.

  • Introduced legislation to prevent evictions, foreclosures and utility shut-offs (HB 310) if Alaskans couldn't pay their bills because of the public health measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. HB 310 was rolled into SB 241 and passed in just six days.

In addition to delivering urgently needed short term relief, I fought for Alaska’s future.

  • I helped fight for K-12 education from pre-kindergarten to K-12 and the University of Alaska.

  • I supported increased investment in public safety including new troopers, village public safety officers, prosecutors, public defenders and rape kit testing.

And I AM NOT NEARLY DONE.

We’ve accomplished a lot, but there is still much more to do, and I cannot do it without you. Thank you for your support of my campaign, and I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail!"

COVID-19 HAS HURT THE ECONOMY, AND LEFT MANY ALASKANS STRUGGLING THROUGH NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN. AT THE SAME TIME, OIL PRICES AND PRODUCTION ARE LOW, AND OUR SAVINGS ARE GONE. ALASKANS NEED EXPERIENCED LEADERS THEY CAN COUNT ON TO TACKLE OUR TOUGH CHALLENGES .
